Our Mission The mission of Arizona Healing House for Children is to heal and nurture the inner being of each and every child, pre-teen and young adult that has been a victim of abuse, neglect or faced the loss of a parent. We will heal Arizona children regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or background. We will heal the inner beings of these fragile children and help guide them in leading the productive, prosperous and beautiful lives they deserve. We will provide a safe, nurturing and loving environment to help these children work through painful past memories. We will use loving, docile animals to assist with the teachings of forgiveness, unconditional love and responsibility. We will use sports to help teach self confidence, respect, accountability and team work. We will implement a health and beauty program to assist with the teachings of good health and hygiene, further promoting self confidence. We will show these children what a happy, loving home looks and feels like. Arizona Healing House for Children is non-profit 501(c)(3) Organization HEALING WITH ANIMALS We will heal young hearts with the help of loving animals. Studies continue to confirm what has always been apparent; animals have a tremendous healing impact on the human soul or inner being, with children being particularly susceptible. The "unconditional love" that animals offer along with their trusting and accepting nature provides numerous psychological benefits to children with obvious benefits of feeling loved and needed as well as the bolstering of self-esteem and enhancing social and interaction skills. Further studies continue to show physical benefits to children as well, such as decreased heart rate and blood pressure when in the presence of animals. HEALING WITH SPORTS We will heal these children with the use of sports. We will help these young lives learn the valuable lessons of teamwork and accountability. In addition to the psychological and physical benefits that sports offer, we will also be introducing these children to sports scholarship opportunities as we promote and encourage paths of education. Our sports program will also consist of nutritional health and diet aspects, for we believe in healthy bodies for healthy minds. A HEALTHY, HAPPY HOME We will show these children a happy, healthy home. A home that loves, welcomes, accepts and nurtures all that enter. It is a home with a fruit basket on the counter, flowers on the table and a cupboard full of healthy snacks. It is a home that has a study and homework room, a TV/Movie room and a laundry facility that can be utilized by our guests. It is a home that will help children celebrate birthdays, holidays, BBQ's and family functions. It is a HOME that will allow children to DREAM of the happy home they too can one day CREATE. OUR ISSUES Our Children A child in Arizona is abused or neglected EVERY hour! Over 7,500 children in Arizona last year were forced out of their homes due to reports of child abuse. At a time in their fragile lives when the world around them is filled with uncertainty, children are losing the most important element of all, their home. The one place that is supposed to provide love, safety, shelter and security is a place of despair, violence and abuse. The people that are supposed to nurture, love and protect these young lives pose their greatest threat. This has devastating emotional consequences on children that can last a lifetime if gone unaddressed and the child UNHEALED. Our Veterans Hundreds of American heroes lose their lives in the line of duty each year! Many are mother and fathers, mommy's and daddy's!!! We will pay tribute to these brave men and women who have given their lives defending our country! We will support and celebrate all veteran families and will be a source of healing and assistance for Arizona children that have lost a parent fallen in the line of duty. We will acknowledge the gravity of their loss, and we will fundraise to help provide scholarship opportunities to the children of America's fallen and disabled service members, first responders, police officers, fire-fighters, EMT or paramedics. We will be a source of love and compassion for these hero families and provide a venue for them to come together in love and in loss. Our healing house will be made available to veteran organizations and to veteran families for family reunions, birthdays, and celebratory events. THE FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS - THE FIGHT FOR OUR CHILDREN Research is now showing that one in four teens has misused or abused a prescription drug in their lifetime. Drug overdoses EXCEED car crashes as the number ONE cause of accidental deaths in the U.S. Behind these statistics are families and communities that have been torn apart by the misuse and abuse of prescription medicine and, increasingly, heroin. We MUST STOP this epidemic and the destruction, devastation and tragedy that is left in its wake! We must help educate and empower the families who are grappling and struggling for answers and pleading for help for loved ones addicted to drugs. We will fundraise and provide scholarship opportunities to those desperately seeking another chance at life!!! STATISTICS Some studies show as high as 80% of 21 yr olds who reported childhood abuse met the criteria for at least one of the psychological disorders below: Risk for partner violence Illicit drug abuse Alcoholism Smoking & drinking at an early age Depression SUICIDE The long-term financial impact of abuse and neglect is staggering. Some estimates indicate a lifetime loss of worker productivity, health care costs, child welfare expenditures and criminal justice expenditures totaling up to $124 BILLION. This could send 1.7 million children to college!!! OUR PROCESS & IMPLEMENTATION Our process consists of a healing house and place of love, support and drug education where children will come to help heal their inner beings and learn to love and value themselves and others. Our process consists of the use of animals to assist us with teaching love, compassion, trust and responsibility. Our process includes professional counseling in a group setting and a place for children and parents to talk things out in a safe, nonjudgmental and caring environment. Our process includes drug addiction support and the celebration of recovery. Our process includes the use of sports to help teach self confidence, accountability and team work. To further assist with self esteem and confidence building there will be a healthy, beauty and hygiene aspect to our Healing House. We will be a place of respite for valued foster parents who are in the trenches day in and day out making a difference in the lives of children. OUR SANCTUARY We will have a sanctuary that offers a safe and loving environment for children to discuss their pasts and pain in a trusting, loving and non-judgmental atmosphere. Professional guidance will be offered to ensure continued healing for these children's inner beings. We will offer mentorship and support for drug addicts and their continued recovery efforts. We will have Health & Beauty Advisors to assist with promoting physical well being and positive health. We will have a sanctuary to celebrate birthday parties, host BBQ's, family reunions and holiday parties for children. Our sanctuary will be a place of peace, love, laughter, healing and hope. It will show our children the beauty and good that life has to offer. OUR OBJECTIVES To seek out children of abuse, neglect, or the loss of a hero parent, help them heal their inner beings and guide them in to leading the beautiful lives they deserve. Create a safe and loving environment that children can come to and enjoy birthday parties, holiday parties, BBQ or family reunions. To educate children regarding the destruction of prescription drugs and assist them with healthy coping mechanisms. To provide drug rehabilitation support for addicts, remind them of their self worth and encourage their desire to lead drug free lives. To educate parents on the emerging and ever changing drug trends posing serious risks to our youth. To teach and encourage sports programs to youth that can further assist with our internal and external goals for their physical and mental well being. To help promote good nutrition and hygiene with our health and beauty classes. To help support foster parents and celebrate and appreciate them in the manner that they deserve. To provide a venue for veteran organizations and veteran families to utilize.
